Jhalakathi Senior Judicial Magistrate Saniya Aktar died from Covid-19 infection at a hospital in Barishal on Wednesday morning.

She breathed her last while undergoing treatment at Sher-E-Bangla Medical College Hospital around 11:00am.

Hospital Director Dr Saiful Islam said she was seven months pregnant.

Her husband KHM Imranur Rahman is also a senior judicial magistrate of Jhalakathi.

Chief Justice Syed Mahmud Hossain expressed profound shock at her death.

He, in a condolence message, prayed for eternal peace of the departed souls and conveyed deep sympathy to the bereaved families.
