Thirty lakh doses of Moderna vaccine have arrived in Dhaka today (July 19) from the United States under the Covax facility.

Health Minister Zahid Maleque received the consignment at the Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport in capital Dhaka around 9:20 pm.

US Charge d’Affaires in Bangladesh JoAnne Wagner, Senior Secretary of Health Services Division Lokman Hossain Miah, and other high officials of Bangladesh Government were also present.

On Saturday, US Ambassador in Bangladesh Earl R. Miller said on Twitter: “Pleased to announce another gift of 3 million doses of Moderna COVID-19 vaccine coming to Flag of Bangladesh from the American people via #COVAX”.

With this new consignment, the US sent 55 lakh Moderna doses to Bangladesh under the Covax facility.

Bangladesh is one of the countries to have been enlisted for getting 3 crore doses of vaccine through Covax.
