Thirty lakh doses of Moderna vaccine will arrive in Dhaka this evening (July 19) from the United States under the Covax facility.

According to officials at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Health Minister Zahid Maleque will receive the consignment at the Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport in capital Dhaka around 7:20 pm.

The vaccines were due to arrive in the morning, but the same could not happen due to change in flight schedule, said the ministry officials.

On Saturday, US Ambassador in Bangladesh Earl R. Miller said on Twitter: “Pleased to announce another gift of 3 million doses of Moderna COVID-19 vaccine coming to Flag of Bangladesh from the American people via #COVAX”.

With this new consignment, the US gives 55 lakh Moderna doses to Bangladesh under the Covax facility.

Bangladesh is one of the countries to have been enlisted for getting 3 crore doses of vaccine through Covax.
