Amid the worsening Covid-19 situation, Khulna division registered 47 deaths in a 24-hour span till Thursday (July 15) morning.

With this, the Covid death toll reached 1,772 in the division. 

Besides, 1,639 more people tested positive for the virus, raising the number of total cases to 78,040.

Dr Rasheda Sultana, divisional director of health, confirmed this information.

Of the newly deceased, 16 are from Khulna, one each from Bagerhat, Satkhira, and Narail, three each from Magura, and Chuadnaga, four each from Meherpur, Jashore, and Jhenidah districts.

Khulna reported its first Coronavirus case on March 19 last year.
