Two bikers were crushed to death by a speeding ambulance on Dhaka-Aricha Highway in Manikganj on Saturday morning.

Besides, the ambulance driver was injured in the road accident that took place at 8:45am in Muljan area of the district.

The deceased are identified as Abdul Alim, 26, son of late Nurul Islam of Dakkhin (South) Pachuria area of Shibalaya and Depak Haldar, 25, son of Dinesh Chandra Haldar of Kanda Sakrail area.

Golra Higway Police Station officer-in-charge (OC) Monirul Islam confirmed the accident.

Carrying a body, the ambulance was going to Jashore from Dhaka, he said, adding when the ambulance reached Muljan-Baghjan area, it hit the motorcycle coming from opposite direction leaving the bike riders dead on the spot and ambulance driver injured.

The bodies of the deceased were recovered and kept at Manikganj District Hospital morgue, the OC added.
