Huge protest held in Ctg against Whip Shamsul's family

A massive rally was taken out Wednesday in Chattogram against Jatiya Sangsad Whip and lawmaker from Patiya Shamsul Haque Chowdhury, his son Nazmul Karim Chowdhury Sharun and whip’s brother Nawab Chowdhury for threatening a local freedom fighter and committing other misdeeds.

Earlier in the day, the people aggrieved with the threat and misrule were scheduled to wage the protest in front of the Chattogram Press Club but whip and his son misused police to resist the peaceful demonstration.

The protesters also declared whip Shamsul and his son Sharun persona non grata in the port city.

Talking to journalists, the protesters alleged to have been deprived of their Constitutional rights to wage a peaceful demonstration.

Later, freedom fighters along with general people in Chattogram formed a protest rally against oppression of whip Shamsul Haque Chowdhury, his son Sharun and whip’s brother Nawab Chowdhury in another place of the port city.

Under the banner of ‘Muktijoddha Somman Roksha Parishad’ (Council for Protecting Honour of Freedom Fighters) gathered at the Press Club area at 3:00pm but they could not stay there due to resistance by police.

However, they held a protest rally on the road between Cheragi Hill and DC Hill and chanted different slogans saying ‘National flag is not safe at the hand of whip Shamsul Haque’.

They demanded exemplary punishment to whip Shamsul Haque, his son Sharun and family members involved in threatening freedom fighter Samsuddin Ahmed to be undressed and displayed publicly.

Earlier, Jatiya Sangsad Whip Shamsul Haque Chowdhury, also lawmaker from Chattogram 12 constituency, and his son Sharun threatened to undress the freedom fighter for protesting against their corruption and misrule.

Shamsul Haque Chowdhury and his family members have become millionaire by making an inroad into Awami League from Jatiya Party abusing the ruling party’s identity, alleged victim Samsuddin Ahmed and other demonstrators.
