Eid-ul-Fitr, the largest religious festival of Muslims, will be celebrated in the country on Friday (May 14) as the Shawwal moon was not sighted in Bangladesh sky on Wednesday.
The decision was taken at a meeting of the National Moon Sighting Committee on Wednesday evening after reviewing the information of the Shawwal moon sighting.
State Minister for Religious Affairs Md Faridul Haque Khan presided over the meeting.
However, there will be no Eid jamaat at Eidgah or open grounds this Eid-ul-Fitr due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
Instead, people have been asked to offer Eid prayers at nearby mosques, following special instructions.
People will have to maintain distance and follow health guidelines during offering prayers.
