A ferry caught fire in the mid of the Meghna River while heading towards Bhola from Laxmipur's Mojuchowdhury Ghat early Thursday.
Eight goods-laden trucks were burnt down in the fire that originated in Kalmilota ferry around 4:00am.
A unit from Bhola Fire Service and Civil Defence, members of navy police and coast guard managed to douse the blaze at 9am.
Bhola Ferry Ghat Terminal Assistant Kamrul Islam confirmed the matter.
The fire broke out at a truck onboard and soon spread other vehicles, he said.
On information, members of the fire service, navy and coast guard rushed to the scene and doused the blaze after five hours of frantic efforts, he added.
