Bangladesh goes into 2nd dose vaccination today

The government has started administering the second dose of the Covid-19 vaccine today, following the government decision to administer them eight weeks after the first shot.

People have been flocking to respective hospitals since morning to get the second dose, sources said.   

Those who received the first dose on February 7, 8 and 9 are eligible for the second dose.

Kurmitola General Hospital in Dhaka is set to apply second dose to 1, 024 persons.

Totally 1,600 people will receive the second dose from Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University (BSMMU).

In Chattogram, people are receiving vaccine from 14 centres, including Chattogram Medical College Hospital.

A total of 1,450 people will receive second dose only from Chattogram Medical College and Hospital.

In Jashore, vaccination started at 8am.  Around 4,000 people will get the second dose.

Apart from the second dose, the hospitals and vaccination centres will run application of the first dose concurrently.
