Different progressive student organisations on Friday staged demonstration demanding justice for the death of writer Mushtaq Ahmed.

The protesters blamed the state for the incident and displayed various placards demanding the repeal of the Digital Security Act.

Socialist Students’ Front held a rally at the base of the Raju Memorial Sculpture of Dhaka University at about 11:00am.

Later, they marched towards Shahbagh with a procession and blocked Shahbagh crossing for about an hour.

Socialist Students’ Front President Al Qaderi Joy announced a torchlight procession on Friday evening and besieging of home ministry office on March 1   

Writer Mushtaq Ahmed, who was arrested under the Digital Security Act for posting anti-government write-ups on social media Facebook, died at the Kashimpur jail in Gazipur last night.
