The bodies of three persons, who went missing after two separate boats capsized in the Karnaphuli river, were recovered separately on Thursday and Friday. 

The deceased were identified as- Nahiyan Al Faruk, 22, hailed from Shahmirpur area of Karnaphuli upazila in Chattogram, Abul Kashem, 50, and Saidul Karim, 60, both residents of Kutubdia area of Cox’s Bazar.

Abul Kashem and Saidul Karim went missing on February 15 when a wooden engine-driven boat was capsized in the river while the boat was going to Kutubdia from Khatungonj in Chattogram.

On the other hand, Nahiyan Al Faruk went missing on February 16 when a wooden engine-driven boat capsized in Karnaphuli while crossing the river with passengers from Patenga Ghat No. 12 to Anwara.

Anwarul Islam, sub-inspector of Sadarghat river police station, and Lieutenant Commander Habibur Rahman, staff officer of Bangladesh Coast Guard east zone, confirmed the matter to Banglanews.
