A man was killed and four others sustained burn injuries in a fire that broke out from a gas cylinder explosion inside an anchored trawler at Singpur ghat in Nikli upazila of Kishoreganj on Friday morning.

The deceased was identified as Jahur Uddin, hailed from Magalhati village in Nikli sadar.

The injured are- Bappi, son of deceased Jahur Uddin, Hashem Mia, Gias Uddin, and Tarek. 

According local sources, Jahur Uddin and his accomplices went to Singpur market by a boat on Thursday as a fair was being held there. After attending the fair, they spent night inside the boat. As they were sleeping, a gas cylinder exploded after coming in touch with a burning mosquito coil on Friday morning. The blast set the whole trawler on fire killing Jahur Uddin on the spot and injuring four others. 

Two of the burn victims are in serious condition. One of them is undergoing treatment at Kishoreganj Shaheed Syed Nazrul Islam Medical College while the other one was transferred to Dhaka for better treatment.  

Nikli police station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Md Shamsul Alam Siddqui confirmed the matter to Banglanews.
