6 killed as truck hits bus in Tangail

At least six people were killed and 10 others injured after a truck hit a stationary bus in Mirzapur upazila of Tangail on Friday morning.

The accident took place on Dhaka-Tangail-Bangabandhu Bridge highway in Ichail area of the upazila around 7:00am.

Three of the deceased were identified as-- Ashraful Islam, 34, son of Joynal Hossain from Pirganj upazila or Rangpur, Sirajul, 31, son of Parvez Ali, and Chunnu, 32, son of Ratan Ali. 

Mozaffar Hossain, officer-in-charge (OC) of Mirzapur Gorai highway police station, confirmed the matter to Banglanews. 

He said the incident occurred when a Dhaka-bound vegetable-laden truck hit the passenger bus of ‘Seba Classic Paribahan’ that broke down on Dhaka-Tangail highway, leaving 4 dead on the spot and 12 others injured.
 
Later, the injured were taken to Kumudini Hospital where duty doctor decaled two of them dead. The death toll might rise as some of the injured are in critical condition, the OC added.
