A Dhaka court on Sunday sentenced three people to death for killing North South University Saidur Rahman Payel.

The convicts are Hanif Paribahan supervisor Jonny, driver Jamal Hossain and his assistant Faysal Hossain.

Dhaka Speedy Trial Tribunal-1 Judge Abu Jafar Mohammad Kamruzzaman issued the verdict in presence of the convicts.

At the night of July 21, 2018, Payel got down from a Dhaka-bound bus of 'Hanif Paribahan' for urinating after it had stopped in a traffic jam on Dhaka-Chittagong highway of Madanpur in Narayanganj. He was hit by the bus while trying to get on the bus later. His nose and mouth were bleeding and he collapsed on ground. Driver, supervisor and helper thought him as dead and threw him from bridge.

Payel's friend Saidur and Akimur were sleeping inside the bus during the incident. Payel put his cell phone on bus seat while leaving the bus. His mother Kohinor Begum informed about the missing of son after calling at his cell phone.

A case was filed by Payel's family over his missing with Bandar Police Station.

On July 23, police recovered Payel’s body from Bhober Char canal under Gazaria upazila of Munshiganj district.
