A Khulna court on Thursday awarded death sentence to three accused for killing a van-puller in Batiaghata upazila in 2019.

The convicts are- Md Robiul Islam, Boni Amin Sheikh and Md Shahidul Islam.

Khulna District and Sessions Judge Mashiur Rahman Chowdhury passed the order in presence of the all convicts. 

Under section 201 of the Penal Code, the court sentenced them to seven years rigorous jail with Tk 20,000 fine each for trying to hid the body after murder.

Besides, the court fined them Tk 50,000 each under section 302.

According to court sources, van-puller Rashedul Islam Gazi, 17, went missing after going out from his house on August 19, 2019. His decapitated body was recovered on August 20.

Later, Rashidul’s father Halim Gazi filed a murder case with Batiaghata police station.

On January 14 this year, police submitted charge-sheet against the three accused.
