A Tribunal in Bagerhat sentenced Abdul Mannan Sardar to life imprisonment for child rape within a week into the beginning of the trial amid strong protest over sexual violence across Bangladesh. 

District and Sessions Judge Md Nure Alam of Bagerhat Women and Children Repression Prevention Tribunal passed the order on Monday.
The court also fined the convict Tk 20,000.

This is one of the shortest times taken to deliver justice for rape by the country's lower court.
