Bangladeshi gunned down by BSF along Chuadanga border

A Bangladeshi national was shot to death by Indian Border Security Force (BSF) along Thakurpur border in Damurhuda upazila of Chuadanga on early Sunday.

The deceased is Omedul Hossain, 32, son of Shahidul Islam of Thakurpur village in the upazila.

Chuadanga Border Guard Bangladesh-6 (BGB) Director Lt Col Mohammad Khalekuzzaman said a letter was sent to the BSF protesting the incident and asking them to return the body.

According to locals and the victim's family, a group of six to seven people including Omedul went to India's Hudapara village near the demarcation pillar number 89 to buy cattle on early Sunday.

A patrol team of Hudapara BSF camp opened fire on them around 4:00 am when they were returning home. Omidul was shot dead on the spot while others managed to flee the scene. BSF personnel took the body to their camp.
