‘Drug peddler’ dies in Paltan police custody

A suspected drug peddler died while being held in the custody of Paltan police on Tuesday night.

The deceased was identified as Masud Rana, 35.

Md Walid Hossain, deputy commissioner (media) of Dhaka Metropolitan Police, said, a team from Paltan police station detained Masud with 300 Yaba pills from Gulistan area on Tuesday afternoon and later he was brought to the station.

“Not being able to take drugs for long time, Masud got sick and at one point fell on the floor injuring his head. He was taken to Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH) where doctors declared him dead on arrival around 11:00pm yesterday,” he said.

The body was kept at hospital morgue, DC Walid added.
