Attorney General Mahbubey Alam passed away at a hospital in Dhaka on Sunday. He was 71
He breathed his last at around 7:25pm while undergoing treatment at the ICU of the Combined Military Hospital (CMH) in Dhaka.
His son Sumon Mahbub confirmed the news through a Facebook post.
On September 4, Mahbubey Alam admitted to the capital's CMH with fever and sore throat. He tested positive for Coronavirus.
Later, he was transferred to the intensive care unit of the hospital after his physical condition became worse.
Mahbubey Alam, 71, has been serving as the state’s chief legal officer since 2009. The former president of the Supreme Court Bar Association has been practising law at the High Court since 1975.
