At least four people have been killed and 30 others injured after two passenger buses collided head-on in Moghi area of Magura.

The accident took place on Dhaka-Khulna highway at around 1:30 pm on Friday.

The identities of the deceased could not be known yet. 

The injured passengers were admitted to 250-bed Magura sadar hospital, said Magura sadar police station Officer-In-Charge (OC) Joynal Abedin.

He said: “The accident occurred when a Jashore-bound Chakladar Paribahan bus from Barishal collided head-on with a Dhaka-bound Sohag Paribahan bus leaving four people dead on the spot.”

One of the bus fell into a roadside ditch following the collision. Fire Service members from Jashore and Magura are carrying out a rescue operation at the spot. The number of casualties might increase, the OC added.
