The government has appointed senior secretary (retd) Sohrab Hossain as the chairman of the Public Service Commission (PSC).

The Ministry of Public Administration issued an order to this effect on Wednesday.

In the notice, the public administration ministry announced that the former senior secretary's appointment was made by the president on condition of suspending his post-retirement leave and benefits.

Sohrab Hossain will replace current PSC Chairman Dr Mohammad Sadik, who will go to retirement on September 17 at the age of 65.
