Convicted prisoner goes missing from Kashimpur jail Kashimpur Central Jail

A prisoner, who was sentenced to life imprisonment, went missing from Kashimpur Central Jail-2 on Thursday (August 6).

Jail Super Jahanara Begum confirmed the matter to Banglanews. She said the prisoner Abu Bakar Siddique remained missing since yesterday evening.

Siddique, hailing from Chandipur area under Shyamnagar upazila in Satkhira, was shifted to Kashimpur Central Jail from Rajshahi as a death-row convict in 2011. On July 27, 2012, a court commuted his death sentence to life imprisonment.

Jail Super Jahanara said: “Siddique went missing before back in 2012 as he somehow managed to hide inside one of the prison buildings. Later he was found after thorough search. A search operation inside the prison is currently underway. However, jail authority found no trace of him as off 9:00 am Friday.”
