A female mountaineer was run over by a microbus in Sher-e-Bangla Nagar area of Dhaka on Friday morning.
The incident occurred around 9:00 am near the Lake Road bridge in Chandrima Udyan.
The deceased was identified as Reshma Nahar Ratna,34. She was a primary school teacher, as well as an athlete and cyclist.
Sher-e-Bangla Nagar police station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Abul Kalam Azad confirmed the matter to Banglanews.
He said: “A black microbus reportedly hit Reshma while she was riding a bicycle in Sangsad Bhaban area. She was critically injured and taken to Shaheed Suhrawardy Medical College and Hospital where duty doctor pronounced her dead on arrival.”
Efforts are underway to identify the killer microbus, he said.
We came to know that Reshma was a teacher at Ayub Ali Sarkari Prathmik Bidyalay in Dhanmondi. She used to live in Mirpur area, the OC added.
