CUMILLA: Two passengers were killed and five others injured as a bus of Himachal Express overturned at Chandina in Cumilla on Sunday morning.

One of the deceased was identified as Samsi Begum, 50, hailed from Ekhlaspur village of Noakhali district.

The accident took place on Dhaka-Chattogram Highway around 7:30 am.

Saleh Ahmed, in-charge of Eliotganj Highway Police Outpost, confirmed the matter to Banglanews.

He said a Dhaka-bound coach of Himachal Paribahan turned turtle on the road while crossing Harikhola area of the upazila, leaving the duo dead on the spot.

On information, police and firefighters went to the spot, rescued the injured, and took them to Chandina Upazila Health Complex.

A case was filed with Chandina Police Station over the incident.
