GOPALGANJ: Three members of a family were killed after a private car crashed into the railing of a flyover on Dhaka-Khulna highway in Kashiani upazila of Gopalganj on Thursday morning (July 30).

The deceased were identified as Jiarul Haque, 55, his son Embadul Haque, 25, of Dighalia upazila in Khulna and his brother–in-law Sajjad Molla, 35, hailed from Kalia upazila of Narail.

Confirming their identities, Md Ataur Rahman, officer-in-charge of Bhanga highway police station, said: “Singapore expatriate Emdadul Haque arrived Dhaka on Wednesday night. He rented a car at the airport and set off for home with his father, brother-in-law and a friend.”

The accident occurred around 4:00am when the car reached Kashiani area. The driver lost control over steering and crashed into flyover railing leaving three of them dead on the spot and two others injured, Ataur said.

The injured were admitted to Gopalganj General Hospital, the OC said, adding that the bodies were handed over to their relatives.
