DHAKA: Five persons, including four members of police, were injured as a recovered bomb exploded inside Pallabi police station in the capital on Wednesday morning.
The incident happened once an ammunition-type substance seized from a detainee exploded around 6am.
Two of the injured police officials have been taken to Dhaka Medical College Hospital and one at National Eye Institute.
The injured are identified as Inspector (Operations) Imranul Islam (48), Sub-Inspectors Sajib Khan (30), Angkush Kumar (28) and Rumi Tabres Haider (28) and a police station staffer Mohammad Riaj (28).
Dhaka Metropolitan Police deputy commissioner for media Walid Hossain confirmed the matter.
A team of police brought a bomb-like object after recovering it from Kalshi graveyard early today, he said, adding it, however, exploded before the Bomb Disposal Unit reached to the police station.
