DHAKA: Eleven persons were killed as the cyclone ‘Bulbul’ made a landfall in Khulna, Patuakhali and adjoining southwestern parts of the country Sunday (Nov 10) morning. 

The deceased identified as Hamed Fakir, 60, hailed from Uttar Rampura village of Mirzaganj in Patuakhali, Pramila Mandal, 52, wife of Subash Mandal from Dakkhin Dacope village in Dacope upazila of Khulna and Alamgir of Alamgir Hossain, 35, Senhati village of Dighulia upazila of Khulna.

Mirzaganj Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Shawkat Anwar confirmed the death of hamed Fakir.

In Khulna, Promila Mondol, who reached home in Dacope upazila around 9:15 am from cyclone center, was killed as a tree fell on her during the storm, said Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) Abdul Wadud to Banglanews.

Meanwhile, Dighulia Police Station Officer-in-Charge Manzoor Morshed said when Alamgir Hossain was staying near his residence in Senhati village of Dighulia upazila around 8am, a tree fell on him. Locals rescued him and took to Dighulia Upazila Health Complex. Later ee died on the way to Khulna Medical College (Khumek) Hospital as his the condition deteriorated.

The severe cyclonic storm completed crossing the West Bengal-Khulna coast near the Sundarbans around 5am and weekend further into a deep depression.

The depression was lying over Bagerhat, Barishal and Patuakhali regions at 6 am on Sunday, said a Met Office bulletin on Sunday morning.

Under the influence of the deep depression, the coastal districts of Khulna, Satkhira, Chittagong, Noakhali, Lakshmipur, Feni, Chandpur, Barguna, Patuakhali, Barisal, Bhola, Pirojpur, Jhalakathi, Bagerhat, Faridpur, Madaripur, Comilla, Dhaka, Sylhet, and Mymensingh are likely to experience wind of 50-60kph in gusts with heavy to very heavy falls during the passage of the deep depression.

All fishing boats and trawlers over north-bay have been advised to remain in shelter till Sunday evening.

Meanwhile, the coastal districts and other parts of the country are experiencing rain under the impact of Bulbul, report Banglanews correspondents.
