DHAKA: The body of Sadeque Hossain Khoka, BNP vice-chairman and former mayor of the undivided Dhaka City Corporation, will come to the country from USA on Thursday (Nov 7).
Khoka's body will arrive in Dhaka on a flight of Emirates Airways at 8:10am on that day.
BNP Chairperson's Press Wing member Shairul Kabir Khan confirmed the matter to Banglanews at 11:30pm on Monday (Nov 4).
Former mayor of undivided Dhaka City Corporation and BNP vice chairman Sadeque Hossain Khoka has passed away in New York.
He breathed his last at 1 pm (Bangladesh time) on Monday (November 4).
Shairul Kabir Khan said the process was underway to bring Sadeque Hossain Khoka's body to Dhaka. Meanwhile, Emirates Airways flight EK-202 has been booked to bring his body. It is scheduled to depart JFK Airport in New York at 11pm local time on Tuesday (Nov 5).
Later, the body of Sadeque Hossain Khoka will arrive at Dhaka at 8:10am on Thursday.
Family members will also come to Dhaka on that flight, Shairul Kabir said.
He also mentioned that the Bangladesh Consulate in New York is providing all kinds of assistance in this regard.
Sadeque Hossain Khoka will be laid to rest at Jurain Graveyard next to his father’s grave.
Sadeque Hossain Khoka went to the USA on May 14, 2014 and has been receiving treatment there since then.
Khoka’s elder son Engineer Ishraque Hossain sent a video from New York on Friday (November 1).
Ishraque Hossain said: “His cancer treatment has been stopped. He is not in a state to receive cancer treatment. His condition now depends on the Almighty. His condition is very critical. He is fighting for life at the Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center in Manhattan for the last three days.”
Khoka’s family cannot bring him back to the country as per his last wish. He cannot return home as he doesn’t have a passport. Relatives are really worried about what happens next.
