Nor`wester kills 3 in Mymensingh

Mymensingh: At least three people, all of them women, were killed and over 50 injured as hailstorm lashed different areas of Trishal and Phulbaria upazilas on Sunday night.

Traffic on the Dhaka-Mymensingh highway was cut off for five hours as innumerable trees were blown down by the tropical storm called nor’wester.

The blasts of squalls also flattened many mud-built houses and damaged crops.

Eyewitnesses said the storm raged through Dhanikhola, Boylor, Kathal and Rampur unions.

The three deceased were identified as Murshida Khartun, 38, wife of Nurul Islam of Darilla village of Rampur union, Ramija khatun, 85, from Dhanikhola union and Firoza Khatun, 65, from Deokhola union of Phulbaria upazila.
