CHITTAGONG: Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) members detained four terrorists, including a woman, along with 76 grenade-like bombs and huge explosives from Halishahar residential area in the port city on early Saturday.
A team of RAB, in a nightlong drive, rounded up them from a house of USA expatriate and recovered the huge explosives from the first floor of a five-storey building of Halishahar area.
The detainees are---Mohammad Foyzul Haque, his sister Rahima Akhter, Abdul Hai and Jahed.
On the other hand, RAB director General Benazir Ahmed rushed to the spot at 12:00 noon on Saturday.
In a press briefing, Benazir Ahmed said that RAB personnel detained 12 extremists from Hathazari area earlier on February 19.
According to their information, the RAB members held five terrorists with huge ammunition from Bashkhali upazila.
Now, four others were detained with 76 bombs and huge explosives from Halishahar of the port city, he added.
Of them, further investigation is needed to confirm Jahed’s involvement in militancy. So, he will be quizzed under RAB custody, said lieutenant colonel Miftah Uddin Ahmed, director of RAB Chittagong Zone.
RAB personnel recovered 24-round bullets of shotgun, 22 explosives, 235-piece bomb making bottle, 24- piece pipes, 50 kilogram aluminum, 900-gram Sodium, 3.8kg Ammonium Nitrate, 250-gram Sulfur, 500-gram gun powder, 6.5 kg Nitrate, 500-gram Magnesium Powder, 10-kg Sulfur, 10-piece Sodium and 150-kg materials of 28 different kinds of chemical, 2-piece rocket flares, musk, hand globes, syringe, 183 pairs training boots.
