MUNSHIGANJ: An alleged terrorist was killed in a gunfight with police in Baghra area of Sreenagar upazila of the district on Tuesday.

The deceased was identified as Shahin, 39, member of a local miscreant gang called Tazel Group.

Sreenagar Thana Officer-in-Charge Mahbubur Rahman told banglanews that after getting information on a forceful capture of two motorbikes by the Tazel Group in the area, law enforcers of Baghra Police Camp reached the spot and recovered the vehicles.

According to the OC, the gang members then attempted to prevent the police from their duties.

However, on information, additional police force from Sreenagar Thana rushed to the place, he added.

Sensing the presence of law enforcers, the gang members opened fire targeting them in the area around 2:45pm, leaving a constable Al Amin bullet injured, the OC said.

He further said that, in a response, police for self-defense fired back that left Shahin dead on the spot.
