DHAKA: Foreign Minister Dr Dipu Moni urged developed countries to come up with increased assistance to the developing and least developed countries in their bid to attain the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs).

“We want to see political will and commitment from developed countries in financing the MDGs and for climate change mitigation and adaptation projects", she told the special Ministerial Meeting on MDGs Review in Asia and the Pacific: Run up to 2015 in Jakarta on Wednesday.

Dipu Moni chaired one of the three roundtables meetings in Jakarta.

She emphasised on increased trade, market access and technology transfer for the developing and least developed countries to the developed countries.

The meeting called for increased political will for achieving the MDGs within the timeline of 2015, said a press release of Foreign Ministry.

It also emphasised that long term economic and development strategies should be directed towards establishing an inclusive, strong, sustainable and balanced growth by 2015 and beyond.
