Bangladesh government today (June 12) welcomed the Omani government's decision to withdraw restrictions from a few categories of visas for Bangladeshi citizens, an official release said.

Referring to the decision of the government of the Sultanate of Oman, the Omani Embassy in Dhaka, in its 'self- explanatory Note' states that the concerned authority has withdrawn the temporary restrictions imposed on Bangladeshi nationals.

The Note also states that from now on, the local Embassy will receive and process all applications and related documents in these categories in coordination with the Royal Oman Police authority.

The exempted visa categories include: all official visas, family visa, visitors visa for Bangladeshi nationals living in the GCC countries, engineers, doctors, nurses, teachers, accountants, investors, and high- income tourists, the release said.

The Embassy Note further assures that both concerned authorities in Oman and Bangladesh are working towards lifting the ban on work visas which is in progress.

Earlier, in October 2023, Omani Royal Police imposed a temporary ban on all categories of visa except for official purposes from Bangladesh in a bid to review their overall migration policy.
