7 people burnt in Kaptan Bazar fire

At least seven persons sustained burn injuries after a fire broke out at the Sweepers' Colony in Kaptan Bazar near Jai Kali Temple early Monday (March 27).

More than twenty tin-shed houses were burned down after the blaze broke out at the colony around 3:20am.

The injured were taking undergoing treatment at Sheikh Hasina National Institute of Burn and Plastic Surgery.

They were identified as Kanta Rani, 60, her son Raju Bosak, 36, Gita Rani Dey, 65, Shanti Rani, 27, Afzal, 52, Krisna, 7 and Laksman, 3.  

Inspector Bachhu Mia, in-charge of Dhaka Medical College and Hospital police camp confirmed the matter.

Fire Service sources said a total of seven firefighting units managed to douse the fire around 4:30am.

The reason behind the fire could not be known yet.
