Police arrested eight juveniles from the new market area of Madhya Arichpur under Tongi East police station of Gazipur for allegedly attempting to commit robbery. 

The police conducted a drive and arrested them on Wednesday (Feb 9) around 1:15 a.m.

The arrestees were identified as Hriday Hasan, 20, Md Hriday, 18, Md Babu, 17, Sabbir, 17, Tariqul Islam, 13, Raja, 17, Rakib, 16, and Riyad, 16.

Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Tongi East Police Station of Gazipur Metropolitan Ashraful Islam confirmed the matter.

He said they were preparing to carry out a robbery under Udal Bridge in the new market area of Arichpur, during that time a police team conducted a drive and arrested them.

Eight knives were recovered from them, he said, adding a case has been lodged in this regard.
