The driver and his helper of a pick-up van were killed as their goods-laden pick-up van crashed into a roadside tree in Lakshmipur district on Tuesday (Feb 7). 

The accident took place around 2.30 pm on Ramgati Road in Sadar Upazila of the district.

The deceased were identified as driver Nur Nobi (30), son of Shah Alam of Char Mansa village of Bhabaniganj Union of Sadar Upazila and helper Md Siraj (35), son of Rafiq of the same area. 

Sub Inspector (SI) of Lakshmipur Sadar Police Station Al Amin confirmed the matter. 

According to locals, the brick-laden pick-up van suddenly got a CNG-run auto-rickshaw coming from the opposite direction on Ramgati Road. The driver of the pick-up van lost control while giving side to the auto-rickshaw and hit a roadside tree, they said.

Driver Nur Nabi died on the spot and Siraj died while undergoing treatment at Sadar Hospital, said resident medical officer Anwar Hossain.
