Police have arrested 27 Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) leaders and activists in connection with different cases and fear of sabotage in Jhenaidah.
They were arrested from four upazilas of the district from Wednesday (Dec 7) night to Thursday (Dec 8) afternoon.
District Additional Superintendent of Police Anwar Said confirmed the matter.
He said that BNP leaders and workers were planning sabotage at different places, following the information drives were conducted in different places of the district.
"Six people were arrested from Kaliganj Upazila, seventeen people from Sadar, and four people from Kotchandpur and Maheshpur on suspicion of sabotage", he said.
They were sent to the court this afternoon, he added.
