A couple was killed after a bus hit their motorcycle at Birampur upazila in Dinajpur district on Wednesday (Dec 7).

The accident took place on the Dinajpur-Gobindaganj highway at Tatokpur Beldanga crossing around 9:00 am.

The deceased were identified as Sohel Rana, 38, and Selina Begum, 28.

Birampur Police Station Sub Inspector (SI) Babul confirmed the matter.

He said a bus of BRTC hit a motorcycle from the opposite direction, leaving its riders Sohel and Selina to fall onto the ground.

Later, local people rescued them and took them to Birampur Upazila Health Complex where the on-duty doctor declared them dead.

The families of the victims have been informed, he said, adding that the bodies will be handed over to them after legal proceedings. 

However, the bus was seized and taken to Phulbari police station, the SI added.
