A person was killed and 10 others were injured in a clash between two groups over gambling in the municipal area of Kaliganj upazila of Jhenaidah.

The incident happened in Kashipur Bede village of Kaliganj municipality area on Tuesday (Nov 29) night.

The deceased was identified as Arif Hossain, 47, son of Ibrahim Lashkar of Kashipur village.

According to locals, the injured were rushed to Kaliganj Upazila Health Complex. As Arif's condition was critical, he was shifted to Jessore Medical Hospital. Later he died on the way to Dhaka for better treatment.

Kaliganj police station officer in charge (OC) Abdur Rahim Molla confirmed the matter.

Legal action will be taken in this regard if any complaint is received, he said.
