A youth was killed as a covered van ran over his motorbike in Brahmanbaria on Wednesday (Nov 23).

The deceased was identified as Payal Sardar, 28, son of Qayyum Sardar of Deli village at Khadera union in Kasba upazila.

The accident took place at Sultanpur of Sadar Upazila on Comilla-Sylhet highway at 10:30 am.

Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Brahmanbaria Sadar Police Station Emranul Islam confirmed the matter.

He said Payal was returning home by motorbike from the town. On the way, a covered van from behind hit his bike at Sultanpur, leaving him dead on the spot.

The body of the deceased was recovered and sent to the district hospital's morgue for post-mortem, he added.
