Two death row convicts in publisher Faisal Arefin Dipan murder case fled the prison cell of a Dhaka court on Sunday.

The convicts are Moinul Hasan Shamim alias Samir alias Imran, and Abu Siddiq Sohel, both of them were members of banned militant group Jamaat-ul-Mujahideen Bangladesh (JMB).

The incident took place when they were coming out of the Anti-terrorism Special Tribunal in Dhaka around 1.40pm.

Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) Deputy Commissioner (Media) Md Faruk Hossain confirmed the news.

On February 10 last year, a Dhaka tribunal sentenced eight members of the banned militant group to death for killing Dipan in October 2015.
