A child was killed when a truck hit him in Kabirhat Upazila of Noakhali on Saturday (Nov 5).

The deceased was identified as Arafat, 3, son of Abul Kalam of Shamsul Haque Master Bari of North Lamchi village of Sundalpur Union of Arafat Upazila.

The accident occurred around 12:30 noon on the Sonapur-Muchapur road of Sundalpur Union of the upazila.

According to locals, Arafat was crossing the road with another child this afternoon. Meanwhile, a speeding truck hit him.

Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Kabirhat Police Station Rafiqul Islam confirmed the matter.

He said after the incident, the driver left the truck and fled. On receiving the information, the police brought the truck to the police station. 

The body has been handed over to family members without an autopsy, he added.
