DHAKA: Bashundhara Group Managing Director Sayem Sobhan Anvir on Monday said that he felt proud to assist the government in building a hospital for Covid-19 patients amid a crucial situation of the nation.
Bashundhara Group MD made the remark while talking to journalists after visiting the newly made makeshift Corna Hospital at ICCB which is set to start operation any time.
Mohammad Golam, Chief Coordinator of Bashundhara Group Managing Director, MM Jasim Uddin, ICCB Chief Operating Officer and other high officials of the group were present there.
The hospital or isolation center built at the ICCB for the treatment of Cavid-19 patients is the second largest in the world.Sayem Sobhan said, “The hospital is capable of treating a huge number of patients at a time. But none of us want to see the hospital to be full of patients. This is not good news for anyone. We hope everyone would recover early and come out of this situation.
He also reiterated that the Bashundhara Group offered the government to use the ICCB as long as the Covid-19 pandemic will over.
According to authorities concerned, there will be an Isolation Unit containing a total of 2,013 beds. 1,488 beds will be installed in the Trade Centre and 525 more beds will be in three convention halls. Besides, an ICU of 71 beds will be prepared immediately.
Bashundhara Group Chairman Ahmed Akbar Sobhan offered the government to build a make-shift hospital at the ICCB amid the coronavirus situation. With the consent of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, a team of DGHS and Bangladesh Army visited the place and confirmed to build a make-shift hospital of 2,013 beds and an ICU containing 71 beds.
The makeshift hospital has been building under the surveillance of the Health Engineering Department of the government and it will be used to serve the people until the COVID-19 situation is far away.
