DHAKA: Around 200 more Bangladeshis are set to return home from Italy, which recorded the highest number of coronavirus cases in Europe, by tomorrow (March 15), according to Health Ministry.
About 30-50 more Bangladeshis are expected to return home tonight while 150 others will return on Sunday (March 15), said Health Minister Zahid Maleque.
Maleque said at a meeting at the office of Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) in the capital on Saturday (March 14).
Coronavirus is very risky in Italy that is why we cannot let such a large number of returnees go unsafely. All of them have to be quarantined, said Zahid Maleque.
We asked people not to return home from the affected countries at this time. But the way they are returning home, we cannot allow them to go home without examination, added the minister.
Earlier, 142 Bangladeshi nationals, who returned from coronavirus-hit Italy today, have been quarantined at Ashkona Hajj camp in the capital.
