DHAKA: The Disaster Management and Relief Ministry has called an emergency meeting after Met Office raised the warning level at the maritime ports to Local Cautionary Signal 4.
The government has also taken all-out preparations to reduce loss or damage to life and property to the severe cyclonic storm 'Bulbul' that lies over Bay of Bengal.
Shah Kamal, senior secretary of the disaster management and relief ministry, told Banglanews that all preparations have been made in light of previous experience. We have instructed the Deputy Commissioners in this regard. We sent dry food to the coastal district administration.
The Cyclone Preparation Program (CPP) volunteers have started performing their duties. All kind of preparations have been taken to deal with cyclone 'Bulbul.
He said that an emergency meeting is set to be held at the Ministry of Disaster Management and Relief at the Secretariat around 3pm on Friday (Nov 8). After the meeting, the overall situation will be briefed to media.
Munshi Enamul Huq, Director of the Water Development Board (WDB), said that all WDB officers and employees have been instructed to stay in their respective workstation to take immediate emergency measures to deal with the potential damage due to the cyclone 'Bulbul'.
