DHAKA: Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina said those who are bringing allegations of corruption against Jahangirnagar University vice-chancellor will have to face legal action if they fail to prove it.
“The people who are frequently carrying out movements against Jahangirnagar University VC, branding him as corrupt. They must have to prove the allegation. If they can prove it, action will be taken against the VC. Otherwise, legal action will be taken against those making allegations,” she said.
Sheikh Hasina said this while distributing assistance among journalists at a function at the Prime Minister’s office on Thursday (November 7).
Sheikh Hasina said: “I have already given directive to record those who are giving speeches, talking, distributing leaflets, all video footages. They (protesters) have to prove where they kept that money, or what they did with that money.”
“They know exactly, that’s why they are making allegations. Then, why wouldn’t they give us proof,” she added.
The premier said: “If anyone makes a false allegation, I will take legal action against him/her. And we will take that action. I made it clear to you.”
