DHAKA: Detectives detained a roommate of BUET student Abrar Fahad, murdered on Monday, from their Sher-E-Bangla Hall on Thursday (Oct 10) noon.
The detainee was identified as Md Mizanur Rahman alias Mizan, a third year student of Water Science and Resources Engineering Department and roommate of Fahad.
Masudur Rahman, deputy commissioner of Dhaka metropolitan Police, told Banglanews that Detective Branch of police detectives detained Mizan from Sher-E-Bangla Hall of BUET at noon.
Witness Abdul Qauder said Mizan was asleep when police entered the room no 1011 of the dorm. The detectives detained him around 12:30pm.
Abrar Fahad, a second year student of Electrical and Electronic Engineering of BUET was allegedly beaten to death at his dorm Sher-e-Bangla Hall early Monday (Oct 7).
The body of Fahad was found lying between the first and second floors of Sher Bangla Hall.
Later on that day, police arrested 10 BCL leaders of its BUET unit over the alleged involvement in the killing of fellow student Abrar Fahad.
On Tuesday (Oct 8), a Dhaka court placed ten leaders of BCL on a five-day remand and fixed November 13 for submission of probe report of the case filed over the murder of Abrar Fahad.
