DHAKA: A Dhaka court granted a five-day remand for each of three more students of Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology (Buet) in connection with the murder of Abrar Fahad.
The court of Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Md Tafazzal Hossian granted the remand on Wednesday (Oct 9) afternoon after police produced the accused seeking ten days remand for each.
The remanded accused are Moniruzzaman Monir, 21, third year student of Water Resources Engineering Department, Akash Hossain, 21, third year student of Civil Engineering Department and Shamsul Arefin Rafat, 21, second year student of Mechanical Engineering Department of Buet.
Detectives on Tuesday (Oct 7) arrested Rafat from Jigatola while Monir from Demra of the capital city and Akash from Bipail of Gazipur in connection with the murder case of BUET student Abrar Fahad.
Earlier on Tuesday, another Dhaka court granted a five-day remand for each of 10 accused in the case.
On Monday (Oct 7) night, Abrar’s father Barkat Ullah filed a murder case against 19, including the arrestees, with the Chawkbazar Police Station.
Abrar Fahad, a second year student of Electrical and Electronic Engineering of BUET was allegedly beaten to death at his dorm Sher-e-Bangla Hall early Monday (Oct 7).
The body of Fahad was found lying between the first and second floors of Sher Bangla Hall.
Later on that day, police arrested 10 BCL leaders of its Buet unit over the alleged involvement in the killing of fellow student Abrar Fahad.
On Tuesday (Oct 8), a Dhaka court placed ten leaders of BCL on a five-day remand and fixed November 13 for submission of probe report of the case filed over the murder of Abrar Fahad.
