DHAKA: Health and Family Planning Minister Zahid Maleque on Thursday (August 1) inaugurated an 85-bed dengue ward on the fourth floor of Mitford Hospital, but did not face reporters.
He quickly turned around the room and left the scene without answering any queries from reporters who were invited to the programme.
According to the invitation letter to the journalists, the minister will address after inaugurating a separate ward for the treatment of dengue patients at Sir Salimullah Medical College Hospital (Mitford Hospital) around 9am.
But the Health Minister addressed at a 'scientific seminar' organized for doctors at that hospital on dengue cases. Journalists got astonished at the incident on Thursday.
Multiple senior doctors at the hospital, who are reluctant to be named, told Banglanews that the health minister had returned from Malaysia before concluding his holidays due to criticism. The minister had taken leave and went to Malaysia on a family trip during the dengue outbreak. For that reason he avoid reporters here or unwilling to speak to journalists.
