2 killed as truck hits motorbike in Rajshahi

RAJSHAHI: Two persons were killed as a goods-laden truck hit their motorcycle at medical intersection area in Godagari upazila early on Thursday (August 1).

The deceased were identified as Abdus Samad, 40, son of late Sabur Khan of Bidirpur village and Shah Alam, 35, of same village in Sadar upazila of Chapainawabganj. Both were NGO employees.

Quoting witnesses, Jahangir Alam, officer-in-charge of Godagari Police Station, said Samad and Alam were returning to their Chapainawabganj home at night.

A Rajshahi-bound truck coming from opposite direction crashed into their motorcycle around 1:30am, leaving Shah Alam dead on the spot and another injured, said the OC.

Fire fighter rescued the injured and taken to Godagari health complex where doctors declared him dead.

Police are trying to arrest the truck driver. The bodies were sent to Rajshahi Medical College Hosptial morgue for autopsy. A case will be filed in this connection, he said.
